Mar Aprem the Great Scholarship Committee is an integral part of Mar Yosip Parish Assyrian Church of the East Youth Ministry, The Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East. The purpose of this committee is to help other Assyrian students in needy areas of the world. The committee is specifically designed to award scholarships to selected high school graduates and members of The Assyrian Church of the East based on their academic aspirations, their religious and social participation, economic need, and academic excellence.
Mar Aprem Committee was established in August 2006 with the approval of Father David Royel, the parish committee, and the youth group core committee. Our short term objective is to award scholarships to eligible candidates who will graduate from high schools in spring 2007. The long term goals are to award scholarships to more qualified students and also grow this committee and extend it to other sister parishes of Assyrian Church of the East in this area.
This committee’s projects give our youth group a chance to help and contribute to their friends who live thousands of miles away, and to be thankful for the blessings they already enjoy. With this, our youth group will be an example and an encouragement for other Parish Youth Ministries to operate such programs.
