Crompton Co/Cie, a Chemtura CompanyGrease can be the most overlooked lubricant in a manufacturing plant and food grade grease is no exception.
It can however be used to lubricate some of the most critical components and its performance can make all of the difference to maintenance and component reliability. As well, food grade requirements carry additional demands on the products chosen. Grease selection must therefore be considered critical.
This talk will examine the current state of the art in grease for food equipment lubrication as well as what properties should be considered important in selecting the right grease.
It will discuss current regulatory issues and certification requirements, with an eye towards FDA-USDA requirements, as well as Kosher and Halal.
Wayne Mackwood is currently employed as a Technical Business Support Engineer with Crompton Co./Cie, a Chemtura company, and is responsible for the on-going technical requirements of Chemtura’s grease business.
Over the more than 12 years that he has been with Chemtura (Crompton - CKWitco - Witco - Surpass) he has worked closely with many customers to develop more than 100 grease formulations for Steel, Pulp and Paper, Mining, Railway, Power Generation, Marine, and recently Food Processing.
