--Yes, you are correct. When you just say "democracy" I take it to mean it [democracy] in general. As political scientist's, we're trained to be picky like that 
. America's system can best be defined as a "mixed government" (i.e. the checks and balances system with 3 branches) and a form of such a system developed in Rome over time after Greek debates like those of Aristotle. We [Assyrians] did not quite use such a system where there were specifically institutionalized "branches" that checked each other. Checks came in other forms.
I agree completely though about the "despicable love" thing you said. It feels good to know there are other young people who think "outside the box."
