Another Assyrian church is falling victim to the “Church Raiders”
“Barbarians“ at the gate of the Ancient Church of the East.
It seems that the Zowaa operators have been influencing the ”Ancient Church” at the time and in the same way as they did ACOE.Many of the clergies of the Ancient church have been recruited and rejoined the rank of the Zowaa supporters, in the last few years .
The pro Zowaa clergies, recently, have decided to lend their support to Mar Bawai by opening their churches to him. This appears to be, purely, a political decision to support him against ACOE.
Mar Addai, initially, resisted the idea but then gave into it. What’s interesting is that most ,if not all, of these pro Mar Bawai clergies are “Tiaraye”.
There are some clergies in the Ancient Church that are against this move. It seems that a division has already brewing in this church. This division has been kept very hash hash, so far. It seems that the Mar Bawai’s virus is spreading.
The argument of the opposing clergies is that letting Mar Bawai in is against the believes and interest of the Ancient Church of the East for the following reasons:
1- Traditionally, the Ancient Church is very opposed to the teaching of the Catholic Church, and Mar Bawai is very pro Catholic Church. He believes that all of churchs should join and melt into the Catholic Church.
2- Mar Bawai is pro the new calendar, where as the Ancient Church believes in the old Calendar. These clergies see it as an insult that Mar Bawai, who just celebrated the Easter according to the old calendar, will be I Australia to perform mass in one of the Ancient Church’s churches, the believer of the older calendar. They see this as a sign that Mar Bawai does not have religious principles, and he is in it for power and politics.
3- They believe that if Mar Bawai turned against the very Church and the Patriarch that took him in and helped to get an education and improve itself, he would also make trouble for them in future, when it suits him. It seems that the Catholic Church has already recognized this and in a memo has asked all its clergies to stay away from Mar Bawai.There is also talk of Mar Bawai joining the Ancient Church on a permanent basis. If this comes true, it might work out better for ACOE. This way Mar Bawai would find a home and might leave ACOE in peace. However, this might not be a good news for the Ancient Church.
