Dear Akhona,
Thank you, your post did answer some of the questions I always had. However, I have a problem understanding the following statement:
"Gatarasis is put upon a darghaia who commits a grave error against God's direct commandments and other serious (very serious matters) such as adultery, theft, etc, but maklaita is given upon smaller errors which needs a punishment and the extent of his error, determines the length of his makleita."
I mean, to any logical mind, adultery, as destructive as it is (especially for a man of God) only hurts that person himself. As oppose to Soro's crimes which hurt many people including jeopardizing the very existence of the Assyrian Church of the East. I guess what I don't understand is how come Soro’s actions, who broke so many of God’s direct commandments including theft, lying, cheating, forging legal documents, conspiring, insulting H/H Mar Dinkha and other members of the Holy Synod, collaboration with a Baathist political party (Zowaa), and many other things are not considered serious enough? Adultery is a personal sin. Soro’s sin have caused many others to sin along with him (those who help him, and those who support him), not to mention those he caused them to loose their faith!
