"They may torture my body, break my bones, even kill me. then they will have my dead body-not my obedience."
The British General:
"You don't think we're just going to walk out of india."Ghandhi:
"yes. in the end you will walk out, because 100,000 Englishmen simply cannot control 350 million Indians if those Indians refuse to cooperate. We think it is time you recognized that you are masters in someone eles's home."British viceroy, on Ghandhi's proposed salt march:
"Mr. Ghandhi will find it takes a great deal more than a pinch of salt to bring down the British Empire."Ghandhi:
"They are not in control, we are. That is the strenth of civil resistance."A Reporter:
"What ever moral ascendancy the west held was lost here today. India is free, for she has taken all that steel and cruelty can give and she has neither cringed nor retreated."Ghandhi to Hindu rioter stricken with guilt for killing a Muslim child in retaliation for the murder of his own son by Muslims:
"I know a way out of hell. Find a child, a child whose mother and father have been killed, a little boy about this high, and raise him as your own. Only be sure that he is a Muslim and that you raise him as one."Ghandi at the end.
"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for time they can seem invicible, but in the end they always fall. Think of this. Always."...and compare it with our leaders who were pleasing the British Impire, while cuting each others throat over leadership, title and how their EETAA's name should come first.
