Dear Ashur,

As you know, Mr. Fawzi Francois Al-Hariri is the son of martyr Francois Al-Hariri. His father was a respectful man among us. He helped many Assyrians during his career. Perhaps, that’s why he got killed by Kurdish terrorists who were never faced charges.

Martyr’s son, Mr. Fawzi Francois Al-Hariri was a member of Bet-Nahrain Democratic Party. In the past, he has shown respect to our Assyrian identity, and he has worked toward the Assyrian Cause. He knows what Assyrian Cause is, and was raised by an Assyrian nationalist. Now, he comes from the Kurdish side. I really wish the scenario was different here.

However, in the past, we had people like Ms. Jacklin Zomaya, who also came from the same Kurdish side but stood up for the Assyrian identity and Assyrian Cause. Jacklin gained our support and did accomplish as much as she was able to. We hope same would apply to Mr. Al-Hariri.

Our expectations from Mr. Fawzi Francois Al-Hariri and Ms. Wijdan Mikaeil are:

- To work toward a united, democratic, pluralistic, and parliamentary Iraq (Iraqi Agenda)
- To preserve constitutional recognition of the historical and national name of the Assyrians
- To help in fulfilling our Assyrian agenda (constitutional recognition of the Assyrians national rights in Iraq)
- To help undo the damages caused by traitor Kanna

Let it be known, Bet-Nahrainians are highly conservative. We would never compromise anything and I mean anything related to the Assyrian Cause and Assyrian identity. As Jonathan Eric Lewis says:

"...the Bet-Nahrain Democratic Party (BNDP), advocates an autonomous state for Assyrians in Iraq. It is perhaps one of the most nationalistic of all Assyrian organizations and has its American base in Modesto, California…"[1]

My congratulations to both Assyrian ministers meant, I welcome their new position, and I give them a chance to work for the Assyrian agenda. The moment we find out these two ministers do not walk on the Assyrian path, we will confront them the same way we did with traitor Kanna, the Baathy.

Khaya Atour
