Dear A.G.
That is exactly what I think. However, to be quite honest with you I also must add that without a unified leadership any steps that one of our politicians take is going to be seen as work of a traitor by another political group or organizations. This is insane and let me elaborate why is that so.If there is an Assyrian cause then it cannot cooperate with a Kurdish cause.
However, I admit that the reality on the ground is not as easy as writing about such an issue. The issue is a socioeconmicoploitical issue; meaning it is the essence of multiple agendas. For Assyrians who call for an Assyrian cause as Assyria (inside Iraq) for a country or an independent region it cannot be solved by organizations outside of Iraq. It needs Assyrians cooperation and collaboration around the world. It needs to be done through a universal Assyrian leadership consisted of Assyrian political parties inside of Iraq; naming the most powerful one at the time-ADM; and all other Assyrian organizations around the world such as AUA and BNDP. Until such a day arrives that all our forces merge together and collaborate for policies in which tackle the problems that our nation faces today and by redirecting and mobilization of all our Assyrian recourses towards a unique ambition we as Assyrians cannot do anything but to witness the damages that childish war between our political and religious institutions have done to our nation and thus to our cause.
I must add that speaking about Assyrian cause and cheering viva this and viva that does not get us anywhere. It needs real political grasp and real patriotism. Any Assyrian standing against the other does not any good to Assyrian cause; this is a fact that is forgotten by all Assyrian parties/organizations especially ADM and BNDP. It is the saddest time for Assyrians to witness our homeland being rubbed and stolen and our political parties have fallen for bashing each other in the political arena.
Moreover, the reality rests on the ground where
1. Assyrian population does not match the numbers of Kurds and Arabs.
2. Our homeland is within the boundaries of a country called Iraq in which by the definition is engaged in a civil war based on sectarian differences. Assyrian cause, as calling for a country inside of Iraq called Assyria is a suicide mission right now.
3. Our rightful representatives in Iraq and other Assyrian politicians who have parliamentary seats through other political parties do not possess the full support of Assyrians around the world. This is insane, you must agree.
4. Our politicians must understand they cannot have the voice of all Assyrians in the world behind them unless they get together and create a unified front and work for ONE SET OF AGENDA. Any politicians who stands against such a move harms Assyrian cause being Mr Kanna, Dr Dadisho or any other politicians.
5. Religious leaders despite addressing the nation and admitting to stay away from politics have repeatedly penetrated into politics by variety of actions and speeches. This must end. The separation of the state/national and religious affairs is a must and inevitable.
6. The most horrific face of the reality is this; the Assyrians cannot and are not capable to create tiniest steps necessary to reach their cause. They must take lesson from the past events. They must unified, and work together. Until such a day there is no Assyrian cause and such a thing is not existed. Assyrians must learn to live and cooperate with Kurds, Arabs, Turks, Persians, and…in order to be seen as a nation that is capable of being organised and ready to work alongside the international community. Hateful comments towards any people do not get us anywhere. We need to understand the reality. Raw and wishful dreams are not Assyrian cause. Anyone who makes fruitful discussion about such dreams without doing anything that challenge the reality and facts is doing our nation harm. My friend, A.G, you can name many of them; there are plenty of those people/politicians around. We need people who can do something about the reality; about the real problems that we face; about real political movements; about real political analysers; and about real….(unfortunately there are too many of those realities that need to be tackled). We must face the reality. Thanks
David
