Sorry about the name thing first of all.
Secondly, I would hardly think thats Hebrew bias, especially when its the same Old Testament Jesus quoted; what we read today is the same as what He read and agreed with wholeheartedly. I didn't mean to sound offensive, although calling YHWH (ehyeh) Ashur is a blasphemy and I would look at that term Ashur (for a god's name) as I would a pagan god's name (e.g. Baal, Vishnu, Buddha, etc).
Be careful, the Name of God has been revealed, its I AM (YHWH) not asher, asher is not a synonym for His name, its a conjunction. Ashour is the name of one of Noah's grandson, as well as the father of our nation, not god, "The sons of Shem were Elam and Asshur and Arpachshad and Lud and Aram"(Genesis 10:22)In Hebrew, there always existed an Asher and an Ashur seperately.
Original parts of the Bible were written in Aramaic, not all. By the time Abraham was born, which is in the Book of Genesis times, Hebrew and Aramaic we're already two VERY different languages although still related, "Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha [Aramaic], and Jacob called it Galeed [Hebrew]."(Genesis 31:47) both terms in this past verse mean "witness heap." So you see there already was a difference between Hebrew and Aramaic, so that hundreds of years later when Moses would write this story, it would be written in an even more distant Hebrew.
The reason why I'm a bit persistant about this is because if we persist in giving Yahweh/Yshua the name Ashur, it would be like giving God the name Vishnu or Buddha, its a pagan name. I wouldn't say its wrong to give my son the name Ashur its a beatuiful ethnic name, but I wouldn't apply it to God, it would be like calling God "Steve."
Be careful, blaspheming brings about tragedy for the blasphemer. Here is a Lament for Babylon, "You felt secure in your wickedness and said, 'No one sees me,' Your wisdom and your knowledge, they have deluded you; For you have said in your heart, 'I am (YAHWEH), and there is no one besides me."But evil will come on you and disaster will fall on you for which you cannot atone; and destruction about which you do not know will come on you suddenly." (Isaiah 47:10-11).
One thing I hate that my people do is try to point every invention on ourselves, although in some cases I have to say that we did figure out things before others, we were still kapureh, the verses from Isaiah are from the same prophet who said good stuff about us, he's not an Assyrian basher, he is speaking the truth. We don't have a country because we got proud, and yet some Assyrians ar still upholding that and equating our old pagan gods with that of Jesus. Be careful.
