I am really excited that many of you Assyrians are supporting John Kanno. He can be a very good Congressman. However, I don't want you getting your hopes up. I am related to John, and well, he is not running for Congress for an Assyrian cause but rahter his own ambition. Don't get me wrong, I am supporting him and pray that he wins. But he really won't really do anything for Assyrians but rather he can help 18th District in general.
As Assyrians, we have to dace one real reality; we have had for a long time Assyrian actors, actresses, musicians (Generation X were Assyrians that Billy Idol sang for), movie directors and people who are currently sitting in cabinets of Prime Ministers in Europe. Assyrians are only good when they have money or there cheap. Because when we have millionare Assyrians like Terrence Mallick (Academy Award Nominated Director- The Thin Red Line) and Anna Eshoo not speaking for Assyrians, we can never be represented.
Trust me, if tommorow all of the Assyrians that hold positions or are well known would go speak in front of the president or the UN, we could get what we need. Especially if we Assyrian protesters with them from around the world. Until that day keep dreaming cause John won't do much regardless of whether or not he tries.
